The Pictory Watermark: Which One You're Looking At, and What Actually Removes It

Updated August 6, 2026 · Based on hands-on testing

Plan names and prices were taken from Pictory's own pricing page on the day of publishing: Starter $25/mo billed annually or $29 month-to-month with 'No watermark' listed as a plan feature, Professional $35/mo annual or $59 monthly, Team $119/mo annual or $199 monthly, Enterprise on request. The trial-versus-paid branding behaviour, the need to re-download existing trial videos after upgrading, and the preview-only status of Storyblocks and Getty stock watermarks are all quoted from Pictory's published help-centre articles. The pricing page does not state trial duration or export allowances, so this article does not claim them. No hands-on export was run for this article — the claims here are plan-boundary facts from vendor documentation, not an output-quality test.

If you have just exported something from Pictory and found a watermark on it, the useful first question is not how to remove it. It is which watermark you are looking at, because Pictory produces two and only one of them costs money to fix.

The one that isn’t a problem

Pictory pulls stock footage from Storyblocks and Getty Images. While you are previewing a project, those suppliers’ marks sit over the stock clips, and Pictory’s help centre says plainly that they will not appear in the downloaded version. The same page notes that audio glitches in the preview are also preview-only.

So if the mark is sprawled across the footage itself and you have only ever seen it in the preview player, download the video and look again. There is nothing to buy here.

The one that is

The second watermark is Pictory’s own branding, and the rule for it is simple: it is on videos downloaded during the free trial, and after you subscribe to a paid plan it is not there any more. There is no hidden toggle that removes it while you are still on the trial — the branding is the trial.

The part that catches people out

This is the detail worth knowing before you pay, because it generates a lot of “I upgraded and nothing changed” confusion.

Subscribing does not reach backwards into videos you already downloaded. Pictory’s documentation is explicit that a paid plan will not automatically remove the branding from existing videos, and that the fix is to re-download them. Open the project, hit download again, and the fresh export comes out under your paid plan — clean.

Practically, that means two things. Any trial export sitting in your downloads folder stays branded forever, so delete it once you have the clean copy. And if you burned through the trial producing a batch of videos, budget a little time to re-export each one you actually intend to use.

What it costs

Removing the branding is an entry-tier purchase, not an upsell.

Pictory lists Starter at $25/mo billed annually, or $29 month-to-month, with “No watermark” as one of its stated plan features. Above it sit Professional at $35/mo annual or $59 monthly, and Team at $119/mo annual or $199 monthly, with Enterprise on request. Those higher tiers exist for capacity and seats. For the watermark question specifically, Starter is the whole answer — there is no reason to climb past it.

One thing the pricing page does not say is how long the trial runs or how much you can export within it, so treat any specific number you see quoted elsewhere with suspicion, including in the video tutorials that dominate this search.

Why the “watermark remover” route is a bad trade here

Search for this and you will find a wall of tools and tutorials offering to strip the mark. Mechanically they all do one of three things — crop the frame, blur the region, or inpaint over it — and all three cost you something visible. You end up with a repaired video rather than a clean one.

That trade sometimes makes sense for footage you cannot re-export. Pictory is the opposite case: the project lives in your account, so a paid re-download regenerates the video properly from source. Paying for a month and re-exporting gets you a better file than any remover can produce, and it does not put you crosswise with the terms you accepted when you started the trial.

So should you pay?

If you are still working out whether Pictory suits your material, no — not yet. The branded trial exports are perfectly good for judging whether its text-to-video output is any use to you, and that is the question that decides everything else. Our Pictory vs InVideo vs Synthesia comparison covers which of the three fits which job.

If you have already decided, and the videos are going somewhere public, then the watermark is not really the thing you are buying your way out of. You are buying the licence to publish at all — and the branding disappearing is just the visible part of that.

Who this is not for:

Anyone still deciding whether Pictory is the right tool. The branding is the trial telling you it is a trial. Test the thing that actually matters first — whether its text-to-video output suits your material — and treat the watermark as a question for after that.

People whose watermark is the stock-library one in preview. That mark belongs to Storyblocks or Getty and is already absent from the download. Paying to remove it fixes a problem you do not have.

Anyone hoping to publish trial exports commercially with the branding cropped off. A crop is not a licence. If the output is going somewhere public, the plan you are on is the thing that needs to change, not the pixels.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove the Pictory watermark?

Subscribe to any paid plan and download the video again. Pictory's own help centre is unambiguous that the branding appears on videos downloaded during the free trial and that after subscribing to a paid plan it is no longer present. There is no setting to toggle it off on the trial.

Why does my Pictory preview have a watermark but I was told the download is clean?

Because that is a different watermark. Pictory sources stock footage from Storyblocks and Getty Images, and their marks show while you preview. Pictory states these will not appear in the downloaded version. The same page notes that audio glitches during preview are also preview-only artefacts. If the mark you are seeing sits over the stock clip rather than in the corner as Pictory branding, there is nothing to fix and nothing to buy.

I upgraded and the video still has the watermark. Why?

Upgrading does not reach backwards into files already on your computer. Pictory's help centre spells this out: subscribing to a paid plan will not automatically remove the branding from your existing videos, and to clean them you need to re-download. Open the project and click download again — the new export is generated under your paid plan. The old file stays exactly as it was, so delete it once the clean copy lands.

Which Pictory plan removes the watermark?

The entry plan already does. Starter lists 'No watermark' as a plan feature, at $25/mo billed annually or $29 month-to-month. Professional ($35/mo annual, $59 monthly) and Team ($119/mo annual, $199 monthly) exist for other reasons — more capacity and seats — not to buy your way out of branding. You do not need to move past Starter for this.

Do third-party Pictory watermark removers work?

They work the way any watermark remover works: by cropping, blurring, or painting over pixels, which costs you resolution or leaves a smeared patch where the logo was. For Pictory specifically it is also unnecessary effort, because you own the project inside your own account — a paid re-download hands you a clean master rather than a repaired copy. Stripping branding from a trial export also runs against the terms you accepted to get the trial.
